The annual EU-Uzbekistan Human Rights Dialogue will take place in Brussels on 7 October 2020. On the eve of this event, International Partnership for Human Rights (IPHR) and Association for Human Rights in Central Asia (AHRCA) prepared a briefing paper with an overview of key ongoing human rights concerns in the country and recommendations to the authorities of Uzbekistan.

The document focuses on issues including torture and ill-treatment; prison conditions; ongoing pressure and harassment of civil society activists; violations of the right to freedom of expression; violations of the rights of LGBTI+ persons; domestic violence and housing evictions.
This briefing paper also contains the case annex featuring cases of particular concern that IPHR and AHRCA urge the EU to raise with the Uzbekistani representatives.
